The classes for the 2008 IIC will be slightly different from the previous events. We are very proud to announce the IIC will be a 100% brushless event! All classes will compete using the latest in motor technology!

Entrants may compete in a maximum of three classes, of those three classes a maximum of two touring classes will be permitted. To run three classes one must be 1/12 scale. (World GT is being counted as a touring class)

The following classes will be run at the 2008 IIC

17.5 Brushless Rubber Tire Amateur
13.5 Brushless Rubber Tire
Modified Rubber Tire
13.5 Foam Tire
10.5 Foam Tire
Modified Foam Tire
13.5 Brushless World GT
17.5 Brushless 1/12 Scale
Modified 1/12 Scale

Handout Brushless Motors:

After working on this for a long time, all the manufactures are looking forward to this first ever handout brushless event. Each company providing handout motors will have a representative set up to assist with any questions or help a racer will need during the event.

Each racer will receive 1 motor with their registration. You will have the option of purchasing a second motor for the event, this price will be $60.00.

As we have read during the past since our announcement of the handout motors, we have read everyone's opinion on the handout brushless idea, but as an organizer I feel this is the best way to provide the fairest and smoothest running event we can offer you.

The handout motors selected for each class are as follows:

Amateur 17.5 Provided By Team Orion
1/12th 17.5 Provided By Speed Passion
13.5 Foam Provided By Hacker
13.5 Rubber Provided By Novak
World GT 13.5 Provided By LRP

Batteries:

NIMH: We will be following ROAR and EFRA guidelines for this event. The maximum capacity for NIMH cells will be 4600mah.

LIPO: For LIPO batteries we will be following ROAR rules:

Only ROAR approved LIPO batteries will be permitted. Batteries must appear on the approved list to be used during the IIC at all, this includes practice.

All LIPO batteries must be charged inside a LIPO sack during the event.

All LIPO packs will be voltage tested at pre-tech to ensure they have a voltage of 8.44v maximum on our equipment. If you arrive in tech and your battery is higher than the maximum permitted voltage you must discharge the battery until it meets the maximum reading of 8.44v or less before you will be allowed to run your heat.

**UPDATE**

As we all know the Hot topic for discussion at the IIC this year is to heat or not to heat the Lipo’s.

Some people say it’s simple just let us heat them well it’s not that simple, right now our hobby is in the middle of one of it’s biggest technology changes that it’s seen in the last 15 if not 20 years, in the last 3 years we have been introduced to brushless motor technology, and in the last year lipo batteries are making there way into the race scene.

The technology is moving so fast it’s hard to keep up and much harder to up date and enforce the new rules that need to be implemented for all the new products that come out almost every month.

I have learned in the last five years that making a rash decision is fatal especially when it comes to teching any big event, so things need to be thought trough before making a decision.

Anyone that has participated in the IIC in the last three years knows we try are hardest to make it fair and equal for you the racers and also the manufacturers who support this event.

With that said this year the IIC will allow the warming of lipo’s with a heating pad type device.

The max temp for the Lipo’s will be 110 degree’s this temp will be checked in pre tech.
The max voltage will still be 8.44 volts that will also be checked in the pre tech area.

It is still up to you guys to make the right decision when charging and discharging this new technology. one extra tenth of a volt will not win the IIC but one fire might end it.

See you guys in a week,
-Jamie

Bodies:

Ultra light weight bodies will not be permitted in any class. If you have a question concerning the legality of a certain body please contact us.

We will be checking the wing height of the body. Wing must be level or below the top of the roof. Rear bumper must be in body. We will be using Roar and Ifmar bodies. For the World GT class, please refer to those rules.

Rubber Tires:

We will allow unlimited practice tires to be purchased at the event. Each racer will be allowed to purchase 4 sets of tires for qualifying and the mains. Practice tires may not be used in qualifying or the mains.

The price of rubber tires will be $30.00 per set.

We will not permit tires to be swapped between classes. For example if you have 13.5 rubber tires they are only to be used in the 13.5 rubber class. If you have modified rubber tires they are only to be used in the modified rubber class. You will not be allowed to share tires between classes.

Tires may not be altered. If there is an issue with a tire it must be brought to the tech table during the event and a decision will be made.

Each set of tires will be stickered by the racer, marked by the event staff and teched by the tech crew while passing through inspection.

These rules are subject to changes or additions as required. If you have questions or concerns please contact Boomer via e-mail. (Boomer (at) intchamps.com)

Tire Additives:

Jack the Gripper will again be provided for courtesy of Corally, this will be the only tire additive allowed.

Radio Impound:

We will follow the same procedures we follow at all our events. We do not have a radio impound. There will be no radios allowed on in the pits even if you are on 2.4mhz. All radios must remain off. If you need to make an adjustment, you need to bring your radio and car to tech inspection and clear your channel with them and do your adjustments in the designated area in the tech area. It will not be long before all radios are running 2.4mhz and this will not even be an issue, but to keep things as fair and even as possible this is the procedure we will follow.

Ride Height:

Sedan Foam - 4mm
Sedan Rubber - 5mm
1/12th Scale - 3mm
World GT - 4mm

Minimum Weight:

Sedan Foam 6 cell - 1418g
Sedan Foam 5 cell - 1343g
Sedan Rubber 6 cell - 1525g
Sedan Rubber 5 cell - 1450g
1/12th Scale - 865g
World GT - 1133g

World GT is designed to be fun, fast and competitive while bringing back a more scale appearance to RC. These 1/10 scale pan cars are simple in design but don't sacrifice one ounce of performance on the track! The World GT class will compete at the 2008 IIC using a 4 cell NiMH battery with a 13.5 brushless motor on Jaco spec foam tire/rims.

AMATEUR-

This class is designed for the casual racer, regular guy who just loves this hobby, not professional, not semi pro, not 50% deal with whomever. Our goal is simple for this division. A fun class where everyone understands what it is designed for, The spirit of racing. So if you have a "sponsorship" of any kind from any industry company, or you have been sponsored in the past, we invite you to run 13.5, the Amateur class is not for you. If you do receive assistance, you obviously felt you were good enough of a racer to seek or inquire or accept an offer of support. If so congratulations for your accomplishments and we invite you to run some of the other classes we have to offer.

Sure are there going to be rumors of guys that are supported by somebody or getting special help, and I will check into these. I will be getting a list from all manufactures and teams who have any form of racer support and check this against the entry list for the class.

So my hope is that everyone that enters this class will do it in the spirit of it and it should make for one of the best classes at the IIC.
